Helvaci Ali - Turkish Dessert Cafe: Authentic Halva, Cheesecake & More in Scarborough

I’ve been in love with Helva Ali for a while and always get their chocolate helva with ice cream from the Mississauga location, so I was so happy to see they opened one in Scarborough. I got my usual, and also tried the cheesecake with chocolate drizzle for the first time, it was very yummy and definitely hit the sweet tooth spot. The interior decor is always beautiful and welcoming. I’ll definitely be coming back, especially now that it’s closer to me!

OMG, this place is on a whole new level! The ambiance is beautiful, the service is exceptional, and the food is absolutely delicious. I visited the Helvaci Ali location in Scarborough on Lawrence, and everything was fresh, flavourful, and 100% halal. Must try is the san Sebastian cheese cake and the pistachio halal. If you love authentic Turkish food—from desserts to traditional dishes—this spot is a must-try. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Scarborough. Highly recommended!

I visited Helvaci Ali and tried the helva, San Sebastian, and trileçe. Everything was delicious — the helva was rich, the San Sebastian cheesecake was creamy, and the trileçe was light and tasty. The ambience is really nice and the staff are friendly, which made the visit even better.

I had an amazing experience at Helvaci Ali (Turkish). This place feels truly specialized—not just a random dessert spot. You can tell they take their sweets seriously, especially the Turkish helva, and everything tasted fresh and carefully made. What we tried: - Helva (especially Walnut Helva and Chocolate Helva): perfectly balanced texture—not dry, not overly oily—rich flavor with a clear nutty taste and sweetness that isn’t overwhelming. - Cheesecake: honestly one of the best cheesecakes I’ve had. Smooth, not heavy, and perfectly balanced—creamy without being too rich. Overall experience: The quality is consistent, portions are satisfying, and the desserts feel authentic. The menu has a great variety, and pairing desserts with ice cream is a really nice touch. The place is clean and welcoming, and the service was friendly and helpful when choosing what to try. If you’re into Turkish desserts (or want to try something beyond the usual), this spot is absolutely worth it. I’ll definitely be coming back—and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality dessert place.

So happy they opened up in Scarborough! I went right when they opened, the restaurant was beautifully decorated and very clean. It was my first time trying their Halvas and I was kindly allowed samples. I tried their chocolate, walnut, and caramel halva. All so delicious, the walnut one less sweet, just how I like it. I got a single scoop plus a brown sugar cortado totalling $16. Can’t wait to be back and try more menu items!

Best cheesecake I have ever eaten!! Many other amazing options! Amazing atmosphere and service. Can’t wait to bring my friends and family to try it! And don’t forget Turkish coffee and tea- is a must try!

the katmer, lokum, and helva, and everything was amazing—exactly like in Turkey. The service from Meryem was outstanding; she has excellent customer service. The decoration is beautiful as well. Definitely a must-try!

What a fantastic experience! It felt like we stepped into Cappadocia for the evening for a late night treat. The food and drinks were amazing - definitely recommend the San Sebastian cheesecake! The staff was so friendly and welcoming, thank you Meriam and Sahena for all of your help, we can’t wait to come back!
